Kingston DataTraveler R3.0 32GB Thumb Drive

I would like to start by thanking Kingston for sending out this amazing device for reviewing purposes. You can purchase it here for $51 but with the code “SHOPPIMA”, it is available for $32.10!

The Kingston DataTraveler R3.0 USB 3.0 32GB Thumb Drive is overall an amazing flash drive. It is blazing fast. Using BlackMagic Disk Speed Test from the Mac App Store, it displayed speeds upwards of 25 mb/s write and 50 mb/s read. On my USB 2.0 flash drive, BlackMagic Disk Speed Test displayed speeds topping off at 10 mb/s write and 15 mb/s read. Instantly, this shows you that if you have a USB 3.0 port on your computer, and you would enjoy faster file transfers, you should DEFINITELY go pick one of these up.

Now that this passed functionality tests, let’s move on to design and looks of this device. It is a coated with blue and black rubber with a really cool design pattern. Unfortunately, it is a capped USB stick, so you have to be sure not to lose the cap while using the device. The back end of it has a little slit cut in it for a lanyard to be strung through for connecting to a keychain. Yes, it does include a small lanyard in the packaging. And lastly, there is a blue LED indicator on ┬áit. It blinks fast when transferring files to and from your Mac or PC and it blinks slow when in standby.

Overall, this is my favorite USB drive I’ve ever used (and yes, I’ve used upwards of 50 or so unique USB drives in my life) and would highly recommend it.
